Some of the ways they carry out this mission are:
• to see that the shut-ins, the sick and the bereaved cared for
• share responsibility with Presbyterian Women for memorial service receptions
• provide a meal served in the member’s home at the death of a loved one
• arrange transportation for members in need to attend worship services and other church activities and for medical appointments
• offer minor maintenance services, helping members with such tasks as lawn mowing, leaf raking, light bulb replacement, filter changes, etc
• maintain a list of medical supplies that members have available for others to use
Commissioned Deacons
Each family in the congregation is assigned to a Commissioned Deacon. These Deacons are specifically Commissioned by the Session to provide care and personal attention for those assigned to them. They become a tangible sign of the rest of the church family’s interest and concern for them.
Hands of Faith
Hands of Faith is a regional organization developed by a group of doctors, pastors, and others, knowledgeable in the field, who believe that properly trained church groups can do much to aid cancer patients and their families in the battle against this disease. A group of the members of this church have completed the training and are ready to be of help.
The mission statement of this organization is simple: "By partnering with churches and ministries, Hands of Faith seeks to provide prayer and practical services for cancer patients and their families by developing a volunteer network to assist in meeting daily and spiritual needs."
